Who is Tamara Moore?

Tamara’s family moved to Hip Pocket Road in 1972, and she left the uniforms of St. John’s Catholic School for the slap of the blacktop at Peachtree City Elementary. Tamara was in the unique position to be one of the first graduates from McIntosh High School. She graduated with honors from Auburn University.

Tamara A. Moore, SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) - worked for Delta Air Lines for nearly 15 years holding many hats while studying for a master's degree, giving birth to two children, and securing her Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (SPHR). She is a trained facilitator and enjoyed working with the Delta employees. Tamara currently works with clients who desire interior design help.

Tamara met her now husband, Jay, at the library at Auburn, and they have been married for 32 years. Along with her two brothers, Tamara’s mother was one of the founding members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Holy Trinity just celebrated their 50th Anniversary. The Moore Family are still members. Both of their children graduated from McIntosh High School with wonderful educational readiness, and they have each forged their own paths.

Tamara’s husband, Jay, grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and is the President and CEO of Timber Products, Inc.  He relocated the business of 30 years from Conyers, Georgia to Peachtree City in 2018. He employs 120 employees. He is currently seeking a second degree from Auburn in Economics.

Samantha, Tamara and Jay’s daughter, graduated from Auburn University, and after a stint at a Birmingham, AL public relations firm, she followed in her grandmother’s and mother’s footsteps and is now a Communications Manager for Delta Air Lines. Sam is marrying Auburn Alumnus David who is finishing his Doctorate in Psychology, on December 31st.

Tamara and Jay’s son, Graham, is a fourth-year Computer Science major at Georgia Tech, and he will be interning in Huntsville, Alabama at a private missile defense contractor in the fall.

 WHY SHE RUNS

  • First people - then buildings. It won’t work the other way around. As Peachtree City’s original infrastructure and developments are aging, they will need to be thoughtfully redeveloped with careful planning that aligns with Peachtree City’s original plan. Economic development needs to begin here at home. The city needs to ensure it retains relationships with our current corporations and businesses. We don’t just want great spaces at the start, but also great places for the long term.

  • Peachtree City is a thriving and family friendly community. To attract and retain families with young children while helping to address our diminishing school enrollment, the city must prioritize fostering our live-work-play environment. For PTC to be successful, all three are very important. Our recreational facilities need to be addressed. They need to be world class. YOU are the stakeholders. How we play should be just as important as how we work.

Tamara would love to see a performing arts center in Peachtree City. How about a children’s museum within it? With the help of friends, she is researching grants and educating herself on what it takes to bring a large scale art project to life. She has her boots on the ground, and she understands the importance of parks and recreation.

  • The last few election cycles saw this as a big issue, and most candidates all vowed to wave a magic wand. Tamara realizes that this isn’t possible. In conjunction with our city staff, the Ga DOT has submitted and is actively working on a major intersection project to be implemented. Tamara will foster relationships with GDOT while communicating to make sure our needs are not forgotten. The goal is to squeeze every bit of traffic calming assistance we can get.

  • One of the commitments Tamara will continue to uphold is the safety and health of Peachtree City residents in our wonderful live, work, and play community. But her #1 priority will be a renewed emphasis on Golfcart safety. The city needs better signage specifically for golfcarts for example. A dedicated bike/cart lane in our most heavily trafficked areas. Additionally, Tamara will make sure to go one step further to foster relationships not only with Chief Moon and Chief Murphy, but also with the first responders. Our first responders’ point of view will be paramount in her heart. She will listen.

  • Communication will be priority number one for Tamara. Citizens will BE INFORMED - NOT MISLED. She will speak with citizens from all walks of life. Everyone counts.

Tamara will provide a conservative, contemplative approach and will evaluate each issue in a deliberative way. She understands saying no to everything is not an effective way to develop policy and will work as a cohesive team for the needs of our city.

LEADERSHIP IS REACHING OUT - LISTENING AND FINDING COMMONALITY

She isn’t interested in getting into interactions that lead to nowhere online, or in the papers. If it isn’t proactive, it isn’t worth it. Tamara will actively listen. If she doesn’t know the answer to something, she will seek it out -research and seek to educate herself and disseminate to the best of her ability. Email. Meetings. Phone. Any social media posts or communication will be a positive contribution.

  • Tamara feels a deep responsibility to mentor the next generation. As she grew through the ranks at Delta, she realized that initial mentoring wasn’t there. One of her biggest accomplishments was heading up an apprentice program that worked on the fundraising arm of Delta Cares. An important action item for Tamara will be to start a city mentoring program for the next generation of city leaders of all ages.
